Quiz Night

Next quiz night in support of Weldmar and Prostate Cancer. Both great causes, come along and support

Xmas Charity Match

On Thursday 28th December, Dorchester Walking Football Club held a tournament to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK. During 2023 the club had helped raise money for Weldmar Trust and raised £1,000 for prostate Cancer UK through various events.

On the day 10 teams took part in the competition, each playing 4 games and there was a great deal of fun had by over 80 players, the majority of whom were over 50. The day raised £766.30 through a fee to play, a raffle, a buffet lunch and donations. Mr Stephen Andrews, a consultant in prostate cancer in Dorchester accepted a cheque for £1,000 on the day and spoke about the potential for men in the age group of walking footballers getting the disease and how treatments are changing all the time. 1 in 8 men over 50 are likely to contract the disease.

We would like to thank all those from DWFC who helped on the day and in the set up of the event, plus the players and supporters from Beaminster, Bournemouth, Dexters, Sherborne, Weymouth and Yeovil who took part and stayed to help the fundraising efforts.

Dorchester Walking Football have more events planned for 2024, to continue the fundraising efforts and to give more men over 50 in the Dorchester area the chance to exercise and play the game we all love. Join us on a Monday or Wednesday evening from 6pm at the Avenue ground.
